CareRing is a telephone support program offered by CrisisLink.
CareRing is a daily telephone calling program designed to help individuals who are living alone, aged, disabled, or chronically ill maintain their independence and keep connected to the community.
Through a daily chat with a caring, dependable adult volunteer trained in empathic listening and emergency response, CareRing helps keep minor issues from escalating into major emergencies.
We make a call to your loved ones on weekdays. Our adult volunteers call at a regular time for a friendly, informal chat about:
- General well-being
- Eating regularly
- Remembering appointments
- Taking medications
- Emotional well-being
- Anything else needed
CareRing volunteers let the people at home know someone is thinking about them and making sure they are safe. We offer you the reassurance that a trained, concerned adult volunteer, supported by clinical supervision and a network of resources, is talking with your parent or loved one each weekday.
How it Works
You tell us when and how often you want us to call. Most people choose daily. We can work around your schedule. If we can’t reach you, we’ll have someone check on you to make sure you’re safe.
How Do I Sign Up?
Please complete an enrollment form[PDF] and return it by fax or mail (details provided on enrollment form).

Arlington Residents: You will automatically be enrolled in CrisisLink’s CareRing/S.O.S. Plus program. This program is offered in partnership with the Arlington County Sheriff’s Office. You Download a brochure or visit the Sheriff’s web site for details.
How Much Does it Cost?
CareRing is a free service provided to the community by CrisisLink.
Available 24/7
We’re available around the clock when you need us. We provide emotional and crisis support and can
connect you to the community resources you need, from energy assistance, to health care, prescription aid,
transportation, and other senior services.
